With the Easter bunny making his début this weekend we thought what better way to get ready for this fun holiday than making delicious Orange flavoured Raw Cacao Bunnies. This is a completely vegan, good for you treat, that is easy to make and a fun activity for the whole family. We use raw cacao because it is filled with so many nutrients, like magnesium, iron, antioxidant rich flavonoids, as well as vitmains B1, B2, B4, B5, B9 and E. These decadent little bunnies are then sweetened with raw honey and flavored with Orange Essential Oil, one of our favorite oils to add to chocolate because the two just go together so well!
What you will need:
Raw Cacao Powder, Raw Honey, Himalayan Salt, Orange Essential Oil, Cacao Butter and or Coconut Oil, Rubber Bunny Mold. (We used a rubber ice cube tray shaped liked little bunnies we found at a cookware store)
In a glass bowl (Pyrex measuring cup with spout works well) mix:
- 1 cup (8 oz.) Cacao Butter, melted using a double broiler
- 1 ½ Cup Organic Coconut Oil, melted
- (Mix chocolate ingredients using a double boiler method)
- ¾ – 1 Cup Honey (or liquid sweetener of your choice)
Mix wet ingredients well with a wooden spoon and set aside.
In a separate bowl mix together:
- 3 Cups Cacao Powder
- 15 drops Orange Essential Oil
Slowly add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. Add optional flavours if desired. Pour into Bunny moulds and place in fridge/freezer until firm. Remove from moulds and store in airtight container in freezer. Enjoy!
*Note: If the chocolate mixture gets too thick to pour, place bowl into another bowl of hot water and stir making sure not to get any water into your chocolate mixture.
